Teen ministries

Middle School FLAME:  Our Middle School youth group meets on Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 PM.  We have a great time playing games, getting to know each other, and breaking down into small groups to study God's Word and issues that the teens are facing.  Our primary goal is to produce mature disciples of Jesus Christ.  Our definition of a mature disciple is someone who is:

    Following Jesus
    Learning the Word
Advancing the Good News of Jesus Christ
    Ministering to others
    Encouraging others in their faith.

High School FLAME  meets on Sundays, 7:30-9:00 PM.  This ministry is for teenagers in Grades 9-12.  It is structured similarly to the Middle School FLAME.  Both groups do many fun things throughout the year, such as paintball, laser tag, rock climbing, dinner and talents shows, retreats, concerts, mission trips, etc.

Teen Small Groups meet throughout the week at church or in a home.  This is where teenagers can really open up and share what is going on in their lives, finding answers to some of their questions and doubts.  Our teen small groups are great places to grow spiritually, to make new friends and to have fun!

Confirmation:  This is a nine-month, in-depth small group that helps teens with their questions about God, Christianity and the Church.  During the class, the teens confront their doubts, dig deeply into the Bible, learn important Christian beliefs, and explore what is unique to Methodism.  At the end of the class, the confirmands are asked to write a paper that explains their view of God, Christianity and personal beliefs.  Also at the conclusion of the class, each person makes the decision concerning joining the church.  This class is limited to teens in the Eighth Grade and above.

Mission Trips:  Every year our teens go on a mission trip to develop a servant's heart and to draw closer to Jesus.  Mission trips are a wonderful opportunity for teens to grow closer to God and to each other while learning that with the help of God, they too can make a difference in the world.  If you would like more information about this year's mission trip, please email Dan Colthorp

Summer Camps:  Every summer the Middle School teens have the opportunity to attend Wesley Woods (north of Battle Creek), while High School teens go to Lake Louise (north of Gaylord).  These camps radically impact our teens lives for Jesus Christ and we recommend that they all go to camp to draw closer to God, to make some awesome friendships with other Christian teens, and to simply have fun!  More Camp Info.  Then choose the CAMPING link.

Teen Praise Bands:  The High School Praise Band practices every Sunday, 6:30-7:15 PM.  They play at youth group every Sunday, 7:30-9:00 PM.

The Middle School Praise Band practices every Wednesday, 6:00-7:00 PM, and plays at Middle School FLAME (Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 PM).

Volunteer Opportunities:  We have many ministries and events where teenagers can use their gifts and talents for the Lord.  These include:  Vacation Bible School, Nursery, Kinderchapel, Children's Worship, praise bands, teen choirs, Contemporary Worship, and Sunday morning worship services.
